Electomanía is a political news forum with a large community of users interested in opinion polls, statistical data and the evolution of ideologies at a local, regional, national and international level.

Our history

Electomanía was launched in Spain in 2013, originally conceived as a website for analysis and research on statistics relating to political, economic and social issues. During the first months, the website collected, in addition to said data, the first political polls that pointed to a decline in the Spanish two-party system and the growth of alternative parties.

Little by little, a community of users mainly interested in politics was created around the page who, in addition to regularly visiting the website, provided interesting data and analysis regarding the trends collected in the surveys. The website was becoming increasingly known among political scientists, and personalities from Spanish national politics began to spread our entries through their social networks; In a few weeks we went from an average of 1.000 daily visits to exceeding 10.000 visits. And it was only the beginning.

A very important stage for the website were the months prior to the 2014 European elections since since then the number of followers was growing progressively, increasing our community of users and getting more and more visits and comments, reaching traffic peaks unimaginable months ago. .

In 2016, the website having already reached several peaks of visits in the Greek elections, in the regional and municipal elections of 2015 as well as in the general elections of December 2015 / June 2016 of up to 140.000 visits, new publishing partners were incorporated to be able to cover more topics.

Today, our website is among the best-rated independent political publications in Spain, with a large community of users that exceeds 100.000 unique monthly visitors, with an average of 2,5 million monthly visits.

Starting in 2016, the website has expanded its publications to include current Spanish politics, and has focused on international elections, preparing major specials to bring the Spanish public closer to knowledge of foreign policy, such as “referendum on reform of the Turkish Constitution”, “analysis of the results of the Brexit vote”, “special on the general elections in Germany”, or the “70th anniversary of the ‘partition’ of India”.

But the main achievement ofelectomania has been to awaken the majority interest (especially among young people) in politics, currently having more than 85.000 followers in our twitter account which means that our publications have a greater impact every day, as shown by the constant mentions of personalities from journalism or politics.

Based on our work, several media outlets have recognized the quality of our analysis, and have requested interventions such as on the public television channel of the Basque Country to comment live on the results of the latest electoral polls. In the same way, in recognition of our research and data analysis work, we comment on current political events in the media at specific moments such as after consulting the ranks of the Podemos party about the continuity of its leaders.


References to our website in the press have been increasing as we introduced data analysis, since if something differentiates electomania from the rest of political publications, it is that We are committed to the added value obtained from the breakdown, analysis and processing of data that pollsters often overlook.

Thus, our vote breakdowns by province, or the extrapolation to seats carried out using a tool developed and perfected by us based on learning from past elections, have achieved recognition from large national news media such as Antena3 or 20minutos.

 

Every day that passes the website becomes more relevant and, what is more important, it manages to capture the attention of the general public (especially among young people, generally more removed from politics in Spain) and with this the community of participants and commentators is consolidated. , opening great current debates with the total freedom that comes with our editorial independence.

And our philosophy is clear: bring citizens closer to current political events through the study and analysis of the data offered by surveys, always maintaining the integrity of the information from a neutral position, and giving users a forum for debate. where to discuss and question them. Our intention is to become a reference for current politics by satisfying what Spanish citizens complain about most: the lack of large independent and plural communities in Spain.

Our team

After years of hard work, in 2021 Rodrigo Panero joined the administration, who has collaborated closely with Miguel in the continuous improvement of the website and in the joint implementation of much-needed updates.

Miguel Diaz (CEO, CDO & Founder)

Miguel Díaz is the founder of the website and currently works as main administrator, technical director of electomanía. Born in Mieres (Asturias) on January 2, 1987, he studied technical computer systems engineering at the University of Oviedo until moving to Madrid in 2009 to pursue a postgraduate degree in Information Technologies, with a specialty in Software Engineering.

Since 2011 he has held several jobs as a software developer/analyst and currently has extensive experience in the banking and consulting sector.

For years he was a collaborator on several technology websites, at weblogssl and the adslzone group, highlighting his time as editor at xatakamovil. His hobbies include technology and travel.

Rodrigo Panero (HOW)

Trained in a Master's Degree in Political and Business Communication, he develops Consulting, Data Analysis and Markets functions. He performs the functions of website editor and head of marketing and innovation.

He was part of the communication team of the European Commission for the Europe 2020 Strategy. The group with which he launched the OCARE project, (Observatory of Communication and Action on Corporate Responsibility). He has participated, as a consultant, in the development of political campaigns for national parties in European elections in 2019, General elections and in more than twenty Regional and Municipal Elections.

He has publications in scientific journals from national universities, such as the Autonomous University of Madrid (Ibercampus) and in international organizations such as Mexipol Comunicación Política.

Argentum Analytics was created to open the doors to collaborations proposed by Institutions (Public administration, Universities) and Private Sector (companies, training centers, media).

In the case of political parties, Argentum will analyze the collaboration proposals of municipal groups as long as they do not conflict with EM., projects could be carried out for them within the law and making our ideological independence clear.
