The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso has called for the defence of “a Spain without sides”, with the separation of powers, “fundamental in a State of Law and in a democracy”, and with the Constitution as a “guide to living in peace and freedom.”
“It was with so much effort that the generation of politicians, journalists, intellectuals and many Spaniards of the Transition of 1975 was raised, supported by the Constitution of 1978, with which the vast majority of Spaniards want to continue to be guided in order to live together in peace and freedom,” he said at the ceremony for the IX Los Leones de El Español awards, where he presented one to basketball player Rudy Fernández.
For Ayuso, “this is achieved without anger, without factions and without resentment.” In the same vein, He stressed that "we are part of that third Spain that never wanted sides, that was forced to take one side or the other."
"This is what I believe we must now claim, that the vast majority of us are not part of any of them, and I hope that we will defend it responsibly and on behalf of everyone, above all, because it is as true as life itself," he insisted.
