La extrapolación de escaños otorga unos 58-59 asientos para National, un escaño en el aire que es imprescindible para poder mantener el poder, y es que la pérdida del asiento 59 supondría la posibilidad de los Laboristas de llegar al poder pactando, como ya han insinuado, con los populistas de NZ First y con apoyos puntuales de los Verdes. La mayoría absoluta se sitúa en los 61 asientos.
