The Supreme Court (SC) has confirmed this Monday its decision not to apply amnesty to the crime of embezzlement for which former Catalan vice president Oriol Junqueras was convicted in the 'procés', considering that "a personal benefit of a patrimonial nature was involved."
The Criminal Chamber thus rejects the appeals filed by Junqueras and former councillors Raül Romeva, Dolors Bassa and Jordi Turull, as well as by the Public Prosecutor's Office and the State Attorney's Office.
The convicted could still file an appeal for annulment before the Supreme Court. After that, the path would be clear for them to seek protection from the Constitutional Court (TC).
